It doesn't need to be "intimidating" to "cute." It just needs to be a gap in someone's personality.

Such as someone who seems to be a flirty playboy, but is actually soft-hearted and considerate. Or someone who seems pristine like a saint, but is promiscuous. They only need to be contradictory personality traits, then the person has to see that contrast likable.
